I am an foreigner

coming to a distant land.

I got 0 (Zero) from my neighbors, but I gave what I have to my neighbors -

>>stella /frank (Late 70s) (with evening call over at our place and who wants their property value goes UP if I spend money on mine !)

and

>> jim/linda (late 60s) — love to heat their house with my woods (having couple of daytime meals and a dinner …)

hehe !

Well, they DIDN’T call us for a thanksgiving dinner, while having 40 people each …

Downgrade Toshiba NB505 to XP

I was trying to get a new laptop and searched to one which comes with XP. I HATE WINDOWS 7 LIKE NOTHING ELES IN THIS PLANET.

I picked up one Toshiba NB505 from amazon, because I gig a google search “Netbook XP”

Once it arrived I found out it has Windows 7 on it.

I decided to downgrade –

here are the step:

Go to Bios , by hitting F12, then go to advance setting and set Dive to “Compatibility” from AHCI

Install XP SP3.

Download this ZIP file and install all the XP drivers – which I collected from devid.info

I visited this site created by Bikram M. Barua. very nice site. good work for assamese language.

but somewhere i read that xobdo.org was started in 2000. whoever worte it , may not know correctly , xobdo.org started in 2006. but within short span it gathered a lot of words in assamese, and other North eastern languages.

I wish xobdo.org a long prosperous future. At the same time I would like to suggest that they should have a business plan, unlike many other assamese websites. Because, without a proper business plan, any endeavor is unlikely to succeed, in long run.

One snowy morning to work

A note for My Other Ballu

Ballu is a buddha , he always thinks before he speaks - whether he want to say “dodo kham“ (means I want to drink milk) or “ruti kham” ( means he wants indian roti) for “baafas” ( means breakfast).

Ballu is a bhuttu. I named him after a servent little boy back in india in 1982, who was just 4 or 5 years old, when is came to our house. He was my little friend. He loved those tiny finger brinjals ( tiny purple brinjles, the size of a finger) and hot green chille ( half and half, fried in musterd oil, so that you won’t know which one is brinjal and which one is a hot pepper( chille) !!!), along with white rice.

God bless you ballu, wherever you are !! if you see this, or someone who could read and explain what I am talking about you, in your bangla words, ask him to shoot me an email with a picture.

( for those who is reading this, ballu was in our house for a few months back in 80s. My father’s name is Naba Kumar Barthakur, and our home is in 85 ASEB road, Ulubari, Guwahati).

btw, this ballu on the picture, I think he is avatar of bhima - the 2nd pandava, I don’t know but he acts that way!!
